Second IAEA Technical Meeting on Divertor Concepts, Suzhou, China | 13–16 November 2017

INTRODUCTION
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will organize the Second Technical Meeting on Divertor Concepts from 13 to 16 November 2017 in Suzhou, China. A previous meeting on this topic was held at the IAEA’s  headquarters in Vienna, Austria, in 2015.
OBJECTIVES
The purpose of the meeting is to provide a forum for discussing open questions related to the physics and technology of conventional and alternative divertors that could be used to control plasma–wall interaction, while providing optimal conditions for the performance of a fusion reactor core. The meeting will aim at fostering, in particular, discussions of the state of the art and solutions for different plasma power exhaust problems.

1. Divertors and confinement
2. Radiative power exhaust
3. Scrape-off layer and divertor physics
4. Steady state operation and transient heat loads

The joint meeting of 26th International Toki  Conference (ITC-26) and 11th Asia Plasma and Fusion Association (APFA) Conference, December 5-8, 2017, Ceratopia Toki, Toki City, Gifu, Japan. The conference web page is (http://itc.nifs.ac.jp/).

The International Toki Conference is a topical meeting dedicated to a specific subject related to plasma and fusion science. The series began in 1989 with the founding of the National Institute for Fusion Science and has been held on an annual basis ever since. The Asia Plasma and Fusion Association (APFA) was organized by the academic societies and research laboratories related to plasma and nuclear fusion research in Japan, China, South Korea, and India. A biennial conference has been held since 1998 to exchange information on mutual scientific interests, to strengthen friendships, to promote education of young scientists and engineers, and to contribute to the development of plasma science and fusion engineering.
In recent years, several new experiments have started, and construction of new devices is going forward around the world. In particular, research activities in Asian countries are advancing. With this background, we are planning the joint conference between the 26th International Toki Conference and the 11th APFA conference to explore the new era in plasma and fusion research.

The 8th IAEA Technical Meeting on “Theory of Plasma Instabilities”, Vienna, Austria, 12 – 14 June 2017
The 8th IAEA-TM on “Theory of Plasma Instabilities” will provide a forum for open discussions on theoretical and computational physics issues relevant to burning plasmas. The meeting will cover linear and non-linear theory and simulation of plasma instabilities, including core/edge turbulence, magneto-hydrodynamic (MHD) processes, and energetic particle driven dynamics and their effects on plasma confinement. Special attention will be paid to multi-scale interaction dynamics in better understanding burning plasmas and to the modelling of such complex physical processes.

The purpose of the meeting is to provide a platform for discussion of a set of topics relevant to fusion data processing, validation and analysis with a view to extrapolating needs in these areas to next-step fusion devices such as ITER (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor). The validation and analysis of experimental data obtained from diagnostics used to characterize fusion plasmas is crucial for a knowledge based understanding of the physical processes governing the dynamics of these plasmas. The meeting will aim at fostering, in particular, discussions about research and development results that set out or underline trends observed in the current major fusion confinement devices.

The scope of IIS2015 is transport and pedestal physics in tokamaks, including the following topic areas: pedestal structure, ELM Physics, ELM control, LH transition physics, pedestal evolution between ELMs, and ITER divertor strategy. APFA 2009/ APPTC 2009

The 7th General Scientific Assembly of the Asia Plasma and Fusion Association (*APFA2009*) and the Asia-Pacific Plasma Theory Conference (*APPTC2009*) will be held in Aomori, Japan, during October 27-30 2009.

APFA in general covers a broad range of topics in plasma and fusion sciences. APPTC covers the topics related to the plasma theory and numerical simulation.

  • Fusion Engineering and Technology including Reactor Design and
  • Materials [APFA],
  • Basic Plasma Science (including Laser Plasmas and Astronomical

This includes technology integration like breeding blanket, superconducting magnet, machine assembly, operation of systems, integrated modeling, plasma operation such as steady-state operation and integration of scientific knowledge to explore new scientific frontier and industrial applications. ISHW 2009

17th International Stellarator/Heliotron Workshop, October 12th-16th, 2009 Together with the 6th CWGM & International Collaboration on Stellarator Theory Meeting, Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, Princeton, New Jersey, USA.

The Workshop is hosted by PPPL in the framework of the IEA Implementing Agreement for Cooperation in Development of the Stellarator Concept. The Workshop covers all areas of fusion research in helical systems and related concepts. The 6th Coordinated Working Group Meeting (CWGM) will be held October 8-9, also at PPPL. The sessions will be composed of  presentations as well as discussion to plan joint activities. The ‘International Collaboration on Stellarator Theory’ meeting will be held October 19-21, also at PPPL. Presentations for specialists in neoclassical and kinetic transport theory for helical systems are invited. The scope will include collaboration in gyrokinetic turbulent transport (code benchmarking and planning for comparison with experiment) and benchmarking of equilibrium codes.

The 15th Gaseous Electronics Meeting will be held at Murramarang Resort on the south coast of New South Wales, February 3 – 6, 2008. GEM is held every two years and covers all aspects of gaseous electronics and its applications including:

8th Asia Pacific Plasma Theory Conference (APPTC-2007), 11 – 13 December, 2007, Ahmedabad, India
The 8th Asia Pacific Plasma Theory Conference (APPTC-2007) which will be held in Ahmedabad, India during 11 – 13 December 2007, will be hosted and organized by the Institute for Plasma Research, Gandhinagar, India. The APPTC will cover a broad range of topics in plasma and fusion sciences, with particular focus on the latest trends in research and development activities in these areas in the Asia-Pacific region. It would cover the following topics:
